Congratulations to Prof. Xiaoting Rui for Election to the European Academy of Sciences (EurASc)

On April 23, 2026, the Administrative  Secretariat of the European Academy of Sciences (EurASc) formally notified that Prof. Xiaoting Rui, a distinguished scientist in mechanical system dynamics, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and professor at Nanjing University of Science and Technology, has been successfully elected as a Non-European Member of EurASc. On the same day, the President of EurASc, Prof. Rodrigo Martins, extended a formal letter of welcome, conveying sincere congratulations and warmly welcoming Prof. Rui to join the Academy.

This election represents the international academic community's high recognition of Prof. Rui’s academic achievements, scientific contributions, and professional influence, further demonstrating his global impact in the field of mechanical system dynamics.

Biography of Prof. Xiaoting Rui

Prof. Xiaoting Rui is a leading expert in mechanical system dynamics and the founder of the multibody system transfer matrix method (internationally known as the “Rui Method”). He serves as:

· Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences;

· Non-European Member of the European Academy of Sciences (EurASc);

· Chairman of the Academic Committee, Nanjing University of Science and Technology;

· Director of the State Key Laboratory of Complex Multibody System Dynamics, China;

· Director and Chief Scientist of the Frontier Science Center for Complex Equipment System Dynamics, China;

· President of the International Society of Mechanical System Dynamics;

· Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics;

· Chairman of the Standing International Conference on Mechanical System Dynamics.

Prof. Rui has long been engaged in research on mechanical system dynamics. He pioneered the multibody system transfer matrix method, internationally recognized as the “Rui Method”, which has been a novel multibody system dynamics method with the highest computational speed. The method has been applied to over 150 major engineering projects worldwide. His work has significantly advanced the dynamics performance, design, testing, and evaluation of many complex equipment in China, addressing urgent national needs of improving performance, reducing development costs, and ensuring operating safety in more than ten major high-tech engineering programs involving approximately 30 types of equipment.

He obtained 2 National Technological Invention Awards and 2 National Scientific and Technological Progress Awards of China  (ranked first), respectively, as well as the Outstanding Talent Award for National Defense Science and Technology Industry of China, the National Innovation and Pioneer Prize of China, and was awarded the National Outstanding Scientific and Technical Worker of China. He published 7 books and over 500 papers, and gained over 100 invention patents, 25 software copyrights, and 26 national and industrial standards of China.
