ICMSD2021+1

The first International Conference on Mechanical System Dynamics (ICMSD), an international event in the field of mechanical system dynamics, will be held online and offline simultaneously in the ancient city of Nanjing, China, the capital of literature, from August 24 to 27, 2022. It was grandly held, and more than 2,000 scientists and engineering experts from around the world, including 29 academicians, 13 presidents of international societies, and 15 editors-in-chief of international journals, from more than 20 countries in five continents of Asia, Europe, America, Africa, and Oceania participated in the event. See Figures 1 and 2 focus on the theme of "improving the level of mechanical system dynamics and promoting the progress of modern science, technology and industry", drawing a picture of the future and a new chapter in the development of mechanical system dynamics.

ICMSD is composed of Aarhus University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology, Lappeenranta University of Technology, McGill University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Nanyang Technological University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Peking University, Milan Polytechnic Co-hosted by 20 universities from 10 countries, including China University, Shijiazhuang Railway University, Swansea University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, State University of New York (Korea), Tsinghua University, University of Aberdeen, University of Siegen, University of Wollongong, and Wuhan University The permanent international conference is held in rotation in China and non-China countries every two years. 35 internationally renowned scientists including 15 academicians from more than 10 countries, 14 editor-in-chiefs of international journals, and 14 presidents of international societies jointly formed the Standing Steering Committee of the International Conference (the list is attached) to guide the overall planning and development direction of ICMSD . The current chairman of the Standing Steering Committee is Professor Rui Xiaoting, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the five co-chairs are Professor Aki Mikkola, chairman of the International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science (IFToMM), and Professor Marco Amabili, academician of the Canadian Academy of Engineering , Professor Seung-Bok Choi, academician of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology, Professor Tianshou Zhao, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Yonggang Huang, academician of the National Academy of Engineering and Science. The first ICMSD was co-organized by Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Chinese Society of Mechanics, International Association of Applied Mechanics, Wiley Publishing Group, International Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics (IJMSD) and other organizations and units. It was co-organized by 35 units including Peking University and Tsinghua University, and sponsored and supported by 17 units including the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the China Association for Science and Technology. The main organizer, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, is a national key university affiliated to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China. The school has a pleasant school environment, first-class infrastructure, active international exchanges and cooperation, and its influence is increasing, as shown in Figure 3. This conference received a total of 422 manuscripts from 236 units, of which 315 papers participated in the conference report, and 11 well-known scientists from 6 countries, including 9 academicians, made very wonderful conference keynote reports. The topics covered: Mechanical system dynamics modeling, calculation and software development, design, optimization, diagnosis and control, measurement and testing, and engineering application four major research directions. The meeting selected 8 best paper awards of the conference, and recommended a large number of excellent conference papers to journals such as IJMSD. The conference proceedings are published by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and indexed by Ei Compendex.


On the morning of the 25th, the first ICMSD kicked off at Shangri-La Hotel, Nanjing. Academician Zhang Weihong, member of the ICMSD Standing Steering Committee, presided over the opening ceremony on behalf of the committee. Academician Fu Mengyin, chairman of the ICMSD Conference Organizing Committee, delivered a welcome speech. Academician Rui Xiaoting, chairman of the ICMSD Standing Steering Committee and chairman of the conference, delivered the opening speech of the conference. Professor Rui pointed out that various mechanical systems such as vehicles, aircraft, ships, high-speed rail, satellites, launch vehicles, space stations, robots, machine tools, shield machines, cranes, and aeroengines are related to the national economy and people's livelihood, and are a symbol of a country's comprehensive scientific and technological strength , and its development is a main line of human civilization and technological and industrial progress. Through accurate modeling, fast calculation, optimal design, and simulation tests of various mechanical system dynamics, mechanical system dynamics science and technology researches the movement and relationship of objects in the design, manufacture, test, evaluation and use of mechanical systems in the whole life cycle. The law of interaction, involving force, electricity, light, magnetism, heat, sound, flow, gas field, etc., plays a huge role in improving the research and development capabilities of the technology industry and the performance of the entire life cycle of mechanical systems, making it an important tool for machinery, weapons, aviation, aerospace, One of the cornerstones of modern technology industries such as shipbuilding and transportation has attracted extensive attention from all over the world, as shown in Figure 4-6.

At the opening ceremony of the international conference, amidst the warm applause, Academician Rui Shiting, Chairman of the Preparatory Committee, Academician Liu Yixin, Academician Du Youwei, Academician Li Shutang, Academician Hu Haiyan, Academician Li Kuiwu, Academician Yan Chuliang, Academician Zou Zhigang, Academician Wang Zhenguo, Academician Guo Wanlin, Academician Yang Shuxing, Academician Shan Zhongde, Academician Zhao Tianshou, Academician Chen Guang, Academician Gu Ning, Academician Tang Zhigong, Academician Academician Leng Jinsong, as well as the leader of Chinese Association for Science and Technology (CAST), Wang Progress, and the leader of Jiangsu Provincial Association for Science and Technology, Sun Chunlei, jointly pressed the start button of the launching ceremony of the Preparatory Committee of International Society of Mechanical System Dynamics (ISMSD), see Figure 12.

During the conference, 11 renowned scientists gave wonderful keynote presentations, see Figure 13-23, in which academician Rui Shiaoting of Nanjing University of Science and Technology addressed the two challenging problems of deriving the overall dynamics equations of mechanical systems and their efficient numerical solution, and gave a presentation on the multibody system transfer widely used in the design, manufacturing, testing, evaluation, and modeling and simulation of the dynamics of mechanical systems using the The keynote presentation of Multibody System Transfer Matrix Method and Its Applications was given to introduce its basic ideas, theory, algorithms, software, applications and highlights; Academician Haiyan Hu of Beijing University of Science and Technology (BUST) addressed the problems of knowledge-driven models such as differential equations or differential algebraic equations established by variational methods or finite elements, or the knowledge-driven models determined by numerical or numerical methods. The keynote report of On Dynamic Modelling of Engineering Systems was given by academician Hu Haiyan of Beijing University of Science and Technology on the problems of high-dimensional and polymorphic models such as knowledge-driven models established by variational methods or finite elements or data-driven models of artificial neural networks trained by numerical or experimental results, and on model discretization, model degradation and interval parameters in dynamic analysis; academician Guo Wanlin of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics gave a keynote report on smooth The academician of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Guo Lin, gave a keynote speech on Three Dimensional Fatigue Fracture of Mechanical Structures, focusing on the great difference between the fatigue SN curve of smooth specimens and the fatigue crack growth curve of defective specimens; the academician of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Zhao Tianshou, gave a keynote speech on the three-dimensional fracture theory to unify the fatigue and fracture characteristics of materials. The keynote presentation of Storing Solar Energy with E-fuels was given by academician Tianshou Zhao of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology on the bottleneck problem of large-scale energy storage in renewable energy utilization, and the keynote presentation of Storing Solar Energy with E-fuels was given by academician Marco Amabili of McGill University on damping and geometric nonlinear generalized vibration of conventional and composite plate and shell. Marco Amabili, McGill University, Canada, gave a keynote presentation on Nonlinear Vibrations of Shells: Modelling and Experiments for theoretical correction, numerical simulation and experimental testing of macroscopic and nanostructured plate shells under boundary conditions; George Z.H. Zhu, York University, Canada, gave a keynote presentation on the proposed method for evaluating the control of unmeasurable and uncontrollable flexible rope systems except for the two ends. The keynote presentation of the Conference on Computation Control of Flexible Tether System with Finite Element Method and State Estimator was given by George Z.H. Zhu of York University, Canada, on the proposed finite element observer and model predictive control method for evaluating discrete states and its application to space debris electrodynamic collection systems. Professor Sharif Rahman, University of Iowa, USA, gave a keynote presentation on Uncertainty Quantification in Linear Dynamical Systems by Orthogonal Spline Expansion based on the assumption of chaotic spline expansion and spline dimensional decomposition for uncertainty quantification in linear structural dynamics. Professor Aki Mikkola, Lappeenranta University of Technology, Finland, gave a keynote presentation on the potential role of multi-body system dynamics in the whole product life cycle, on gamified product development, periodic product overhaul with integrated real-time and simulation data, and artificial intelligence in the development and manufacturing of autonomous machines. Prof. Mikkola gave a keynote presentation on Multibody System Dynamics Throughout the Product Lifecycle; Prof. Chuanzeng Zhang from University of Siegen, Germany, addressed the problem of narrow tunable metamaterial bands in vibrational elastic wave suppression and proposed an active adaptive strategy based on particle swarm optimization technology. The keynote presentation of Vibration and Elastic Wave Suppression by Self-adaptive Metamaterials was given by Academician Chuanzeng Zhang of University of Siegen, Germany. The keynote presentation of Calibrated Low Dimensional Models in Non-smooth Dynamics was given by academician Marian Wiercigroch of the University of Aberdeen, UK, on effective modeling and analysis of low-dimensional dynamical systems, design of nonlinear dynamics and engineering applications; academician Ding Han of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, UK, on the current development of cutting imaging technology and its role in chip formation mechanism, heat distribution coefficient, strain/strain, etc. The keynote presentation of Dynamics of Chip Formation During Cutting Process Using Imaging Techniques was made by academician Ding Han of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, who focused on the current development of cutting imaging technology and its research on chip formation mechanism, heat distribution coefficient, strain/strain rate, machining surface integrity (subsurface plastic deformation and residual stress). These presentations highly summarized the latest advances in mechanical system dynamics, representing the frontier of theory and application in this discipline, and pointed out the development direction for mechanical system dynamics and its software development, optimization design, diagnosis and control, measurement and testing, and engineering applications. A total of 206 oral presentations were made by the participants and 109 poster presentations were made, see Fig. 24-26.

On the evening of the 25th, the ICMSD Organizing Committee hosted a banquet in Shengshitang, Shangri-La Hotel, Nanjing to entertain the guests. The dinner was held in a warm, sincere, joyful and peaceful atmosphere. Chairman of ICMSD Standing Steering Committee and Chairman of ICMSD Academician Rui Xiaoting presided over the dinner. On behalf of ICMSD Standing Steering Committee, he extended his warmest welcome and sincere greetings to all the participants. Afterwards, the teachers and students of the Department of Arts and Culture of Nanjing University of Science and Technology presented wonderful thank-you performances in turn: the song and dance "We Are All Dream Chasers" and the erhu unison "War Horses Galloping". On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the First International Conference on Mechanical System Dynamics, Professor Zhang Jun, Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanjing University of Science and Technology, presented the Outstanding Contribution Award to the 702 Shipyard and the Weapon 447 Factory. Wu Wenwei, Deputy Director of the 702 Shipyard, and Wu Baojun, Minister of the Weapon 447 Factory, won the awards The unit receives the award. On the evening of August 27, the second editorial board meeting of the IJMSD journal, the first working meeting of the Standing Steering Committee of the ICMSD International Conference, and the first working meeting of the Preparatory Committee of the ISMSD International Society were held simultaneously offline and online. Academician Chuanzeng Zhang presided over three sessions. At the second IJMSD editorial board meeting, Academician Rui Xiaoting, editor-in-chief of IJMSD, delivered a welcome speech and announced on behalf of the editorial board that the IJMSD youth editorial board composed of 18 young scientists from 6 countries was formally established. Executive editor Professor Xuping Zhang made a report on the work of the editorial department. 49 experts, including 8 academicians from 11 countries, 9 chairmen of international societies, and 8 chief editors of international journals, focused on the theme of "attracting high-quality manuscript sources to expand international influence" on the characteristics of the journal, the source of international manuscript sources, and the quality of review In-depth exchanges and discussions have been carried out on issues such as publication timeliness and the improvement of the international influence of journals, as shown in Figures 32-33. At the first working meeting of the Standing Steering Committee of the ICMSD International Conference, Academician Rui Xiaoting, Chairman of the Standing Steering Committee of the ICMSD International Conference and Chairman of ICMSD, delivered a speech and announced the next ICMSD organizer on behalf of the Standing Steering Committee. Associate Professor Zhou Qinbo, secretary-general of the first ICMSD conference, introduced the status and regulations of the ICMSD standing conference (discussion draft). The candidate organizer, Associate Professor Wang Xuefeng of Peking University, introduced the next ICMSD hosting plan. 29 participating experts, including 7 academicians from 6 countries, 5 presidents of international societies, and 8 chief editors of international journals, spoke highly of the first ICMSD international conference and looked forward to the next conference, as shown in Figure 34 —35. At the first working meeting of the preparatory committee of the ISMSD International Society, academician Xiaoting Rui, chairman of the preparatory committee, gave a warm speech to welcome the guests. On the morning of August 27, Academician Guo Wanlin, member of the ICMSD Standing Steering Committee, presided over the closing ceremony of the first ICMSD conference. The organizing committee of the conference awarded the Best Paper Award of the International Conference and the Special Contribution Award of the organizing committee, as shown in Figure 38,40,41.

Academician Rui Xiaoting, chairman of ICMSD, delivered a closing speech, announcing on behalf of the IJMSD editorial board the decision to select 18 young editorial members of IJMSD; For September 1-5, 2023, the local chairman is the decision of Professor Liu Caishan; representing the ISMSD, which is composed of more than 40 academicians and more than 100 well-known scientists from more than 50 universities in more than 20 countries on five continents, and more than 40 top 500 companies in the world The Preparatory Committee announced the official launch of the ISMSD preparatory work for the world. Chairman Rui pointed out in his closing speech that the first ICMSD International Conference was a complete success; a large number of top scientists and engineering experts participated in the event, and a large number of advanced scientific research results emerged, which will greatly promote modern science, technology and industry. The development of ICMSD shows that ICMSD is a dynamic and appealing club of mechanical system dynamics scientists from all over the world. An important milestone in the development of science.
