National Key Laboratory of Complex MSD Officially Founded
The inaugural ceremony for the founding of the National Key Laboratory of Complex Multibody System Dynamics took place on November 30th, 2023, at the Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NJUST). The members of the Academic Committee of the National Key Laboratory of Complex Multibody System Dynamics, including 13 members of the National Academy of Sciences / Engineering; leaders and representatives of research institutes, enterprises, universities, and industries attended the ceremony. Prof. Yong He, Vice-President of NJUST presided over the ceremony. Prof. Xiaoting Rui, Member of the National Academy of Sciences, Director of the National Key Laboratory of Complex Multibody System Dynamics, and President of the International Society of Mechanical System Dynamics (ISMSD) delivered a speech, reviewing the development history of the National Key Laboratory. Prof. Rui further emphasizes that the National Key Laboratory is home to all the scientists in the field of mechanical system dynamics and welcomes regular home visits.

Brief Introduction
National Key Laboratory of Complex Multibody System Dynamics, based on the launch dynamics research group established by Prof. Xiaoting Rui, Member of the National Academy of Sciences and President of the International Society of Mechanical System Dynamics (ISMSD) since 1986, has been continuously developed for more than 30 years, including the establishment of Institute of Launch Dynamics and Key Laboratory of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for Complex Equipment System Dynamics. It was officially approved by the government for establishment in January 2023. The National Key Laboratory of Complex Multibody System Dynamics is the supporting / affiliated organization and leader, editor-in-chief, and chairman organization of three national platforms and three international organizations. The national platforms are the Professional Group of Commission Equipment, the Frontier Science Center for System Dynamics of Complex Equipment, and the China Society of Launch Dynamics (preparatory); and the three international organizations are the International Society of Mechanical System Dynamics, the International Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics, and the Standing International Conference on Mechanical System Dynamics.
As the base of talent cultivation, technological innovation, design evaluation, and international academic exchange in the field of multibody system dynamics, the National Key Laboratory aims to build an international top-level research and academic platform for multibody system dynamics and its applications, and shoulders the historical responsibility of promoting the international development cooperation of multibody system dynamics to enhance the research and development (design, manufacturing, testing, evaluation, and application) capabilities and equipment performance in science, technology, and industry. The establishment of the Multibody System Transfer Matrix Method has broken through the technical bottleneck on equipment development, where the calculation speed cannot meet the modeling and simulation requirements of multibody system dynamics, and significantly improved the level of equipment design, manufacturing, testing, evaluation, and application throughout its entire lifecycle. The National Key Laboratory takes the lead in undertaking and completing over 100 various national major scientific and technological projects, including large-scale industrial software national major projects and high-tech projects. It solved the major national strategic challenges of improving dynamic performance, thus significantly reducing development costs and ensuring the safety of more than 40 types of equipment, which has won more than 10 National Technology Progress and Invention Awards of China.
